Our
Design Capability encompasses finite element modeling for our Motors
and sensors with speed (2D) and vector field (3D) analysis. We verify
the performance prior to a prototype design.
The use of software packages such as Ansys and Motor CAD provide
Muirhead with the ability to model resonance, stress and thermal
characteristics of any system.
Our Design Capabilities are focused at both our Penge and Andover
sites where software platforms such as Mechanical Desktop and Thermal
Analysis assist with the development of Prototype products.
Shown to the left is a magnetic field plot for the PMA (Permanent
Magnet Alternator) under open-circuit condition. The flux density
distribution can be obtained in vivid colour for each part. Therefore,
the BEMF and the iron losses and subsequent demagnetisation of the
magnets can all be calculated accurately.
By utilising Finite Element analysis tools, including Vector Field™
and SPEED© within Muirhead, the accuracy of the Electro-magnetic
field analysis is improved significantly compared to traditional
analytical methods.
